02/02/2014 - Boredom
Being away from home for weeks on end to some people at times can be a bit boring. The monotony of camp life can have a negative effect on site moral, possibly your focus, your safety and the safety of those you work with. There are ways to reduce or rid your site of this mental state.
If your site has Health and Wellness coordinators I hope they are created and offering new events and games to cater for all on site. Some of the events can be as simple as a darts comp or a pool comp. Other events can involve physical activity, from yoga to tag or events that don't require strength, speed or agility but encourage site residents to move and have a laugh.
Of course all of the events and activities should be scrutinised by you OHSS rep to ensure the safest outcome for all participants.
Friendly games can be developed with the local communities to help the bond strengthen between the on site residents and the nearest town. Photos can be taken and published in a newsletter distributed by your lifestyle coordinators to positively impact on the sites moral as well.
It is important to offer these activities to engage the residents in something other than sitting around after a big meal and drinking until late at night.
Empower2themax offers all of these activities and crazy games to induce a good laugh with your mates will moving your body. On some sites this was incorporated with BBQ night, always a great turnout!
