Toast that isn't made from bread
You know I have you all steer away from bread when you start out on your body fat loss journey. This is one of Reiko's recipes that allows you to make toast without using bread. Once you are comfortable making the "standard" recipe, play around with adding your favourite healthy extra and let us know what you like!
Ingredients; |
| 3 table spoons of *oats (blend oats into a fine powder)3 table spoons of spelt flour or coconut flour2 table spoons of Jalna or Greek yoghurt1 tea spoon of baking powder1 egg1 pinch of saltOptional extras - 1 desert spoon of Quinoa or Flaxseed or Chia seeds or Pepitas |
Method; |
|
Separate the egg white from the yolk |
| *If you don't like the smell of eggs, separate the skin off the yolk and add that to the egg white (see photo)**Don't use these utensils again throughout the process or you will reintroduce the egg smell |
|
Mix all ingredients in a medium size mixing bowl by hand, baking powder to be added last |
| *Mix baking powder in gently and make sure all ingredients are mixed well** Have your microwave proof tray/form ready before you do this step***A clear form is preferable so you can see the sides and bottom of the mixture during the cooking process |
|
As soon as it is all mixed, place the mixture into the microwave proof form |
| *Place the mixture into a microwave for two minutes at full power (we used an 1100 watt microwave)**If you require longer only cook for thirty second intervals after the initial two minutes***The mixture requires no more heating when the mixture looks the same on the top as the bottom |
|
Place the "toast" into the toaster and brown it to your desired colour |
|
Looks like toast, smells like toast, tastes like toast, but no processed bread and you know exactly what is in it! |
