19/01/2014 - Water

Drinking water, too much, too little, yes or no?

What I have learnt is that water is part of the food group which means it has a positive effect on your metabolism.

Well that's good, if your metabolism is working than you have a greater chance of moving the unwanted kilo's.

The best thing about water is, it is part of the food group but like EVERYTHING else in the food group, it has no calories, so you get the metabolic benefit without any added kilojoules, great!  NO, I am not saying you should try to live just on water or try to use water as your body fat loss tool.  I am saying, if you want a drink and you don't feel like a green tea, have a glass of water or two, it fills you up and helps your metabolism.

Drink it at room temperature as well, not cold, your body will hold the fluid in your stomach until it reaches the right temperature and then start to "process" it then.  Ever noticed when it is hot and you are very thirsty and you gulp down numerous glasses of icy cold water, you usually end up feeling very full and bloated.

How much should you drink?  If it's hot, drink more than you would normally, if you have just raised your heart rate, drink some more.

Is there a magic number, well, it's a debate that goes on and on, basically we are all different, just try not to wait until you are thirsty before you have your next drink of the clear stuff, we need it!
