07/01/2014 - Self Esteem
Low self-esteem is somewhat like a cancer. At first we don't understand why we "get it", but when it gets a hold of you, you wonder "why me?" and then it seems like we are doomed and life will never be "normal" again. Low self-esteem starts in us without our knowing. It is "our normal" and because it seems "normal" we don't notice the slow insidious negative self-talk and feelings about ourselves and our environment.
Can we stop this, what sometimes can be an all-consuming, debilitating feeling?....... Absolutely.
In future articles I am going to talk about what may have contributed to the onset of low self-esteem, the effects low self-esteem has (even the ones you may not be aware of), what is "feeding" the continuance of low self-esteem. We are going to unravel some of the mysteries of low self-esteem and self-doubts that may be creeping into your head and affecting your day to day interactions and thoughts; your spousal relationship, your relationship with any children, the peace and harmony of your home and any other social systems like sport, work or play.
Have an open mind, but challenge all that you read. The challenge is what will bring you the answers you are looking for. You don't have to agree, but please at least consider the thoughts and messages.
Congratulations for taking the first step in making your life all you want it to be. It really is easy to restore positive thoughts and actions back into your life.
